Shukr: Thankfulness & Gratitude
How can we express thanks to Allah for all he has given us?
Allah is source of all Favors and Blessings
Scholars call Surat-Nahl (The bees) the Surah of the favors of Allah. In this particular Surah Allah details many of his favors, blessings and gifts He granted to mankind and His other creations . Recite and reflect upon the beautiful Ayaat:
Humans be Must Grateful to Their Creator.
The Prophets were Thankful.
Prophet Muhammad Teaches Muslims the Gratitude to Allah.
When the Prophet صلى اللة عليه وسلم ate or drank, he would say, “Thanks be to Allah Who gave us food and drink and made us Muslims” (At-Tirmidhi)
Whenever the Prophet صلى اللة عليه وسلم put on any new garment, he would say, “O Allah, thanks be to You: You gave me this to wear. I ask You to give me the good of this dress and the good for which it is made and I ask You to protect me from the evil of this dress and from the evil of that for which it is made” (At-Tirmidhi).
Types of Thankfulness:
1. Shukru-ul-Qalb, or thankfulness felt in the heart.
2. Shukr tha-ul-Lisan, or thankfulness expressed by the tongue.
3. Shukr-ul-Jawarih, or thankfulness expressed by the body and the limbs.
Dua’a:
Mu’ath ibn Jabal narrated that Rasoolullah once said to me “ Mu’ad, I love you. Let me teach you something..(the dua at the end of salsh)
(O Allah help me to remember you, to show gratefulness to you, and to worship you well.)
Homework:
1) Read the chapter at home Unit-A Chapter#7 – Shukr: Thankfulness to Allah
2) Answer all questions from Page#A65
3) Explain your parents what you learned in the class and write down four bullet points.
Keep a separate book “one subject Composition notebook” for Iman & History Homework.
Write your name on the book.
Write date, unit, chapter number and take parent’s signature on each homework before you submit.

Recommended your child to read this chapter#7 at home in front of you, make sure they have finished their previous homework till chapter#6
