We reviewed Unit C – Chapter 1, Hajj: The Fifth Pillar of Islam. We defined and understand Hajj, how a muslim perform Hajj and the wisdom behind all the rituals.

Unit – C, Chapter One Hajj: The Fifth Pillar of Islam – Review Sheet
Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is fard (compulsory) on every adult Muslim, if he or she is in good health and can afford it.
The hajj happens once a year in the lunar month of Thul-Hijjah.
Ihram Garment – two pieces of white cloth that men wear for Hajj. One piece covers the upper part of the body called ridaa. The lower part is covered with izar. Ihram is not stitched or sewn. Women wear regular Islamic dress.
Tawaf – circle around Al-Kabah seven times making duaa and thikr to Allah.
Saiy – walking fast back and forth, seven times between two rocky hills called As-Safa and Al-Marwah.
Zamzam – the blessed water that Hujjaj (pilgrims) drink, which still there near Al-Kabah.
Mina – Hujjaj go to Mina in the 8th day of Thul-Hijjah. Mina is a huge area outside of Makkah where Hujjaj spend one night praying, making duaa, and reading quran.
Arafah – It is an area where Hujjaj stay from morning until sunset on the 9th day of Thul-Hijjah, praying, making duaa, repenting from past sins and reading quran.
Al-Muzdalifah – an area near Arafah, where Hujjaj pray Maghrib and Isha, make dua, thikr and sleep at night.
Jamrat – before leaving al-muzdalifah, hujjaj collect pebbles to throw at the three symbols of shaytan at Mina.
Tawaf-ul-Ifadah – the tawaf performed by the Hujjaj on the 10th day of thul-hijjah.
Tawaf-ul-Wadaa – before leaving Makkah, hujjaj perform farewell tawaf called tawaf-ul-wadaa. It is like saying goodbye to Al-Kabah.
Things To Remember:
1. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam.
2. A Hajj that is free from bad deeds washes all sins away.
3. Hajj teaches people to be patient.
4. Hajj helps us remember the Day of Judgment.
5. Hajj teaches us to be kind to the poor and needy.
6. Hajj reminds us of the blessings of Allah.
7. Hajj brings us closer to Allah
