Spring 2020 Study Guide Subject Worship and Character Level 3
Directions: There will be at least one question on the exam for every topic listed in this study guide.
You are expected to use your textbook and notes to review all the units and chapters listed below,
concentrating on knowing well the topics listed in this guide. The exam will consist of a mixture of
multiple choice, true and false, and short answer questions. Ask Allah, the Most High, to help you do
well on the exam and follow it up by studying.
Unit E: Islam Is Character
Chapter 1: Cleanliness and Purity: It’s My Nature
Describe how cleanliness is part of Islam.
Know that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said that half of your faith (belief) is being clean and pure.
Learn how to observe the etiquette of using the bathroom.
Recognize the meanings of Taharah, Najasah and Nathafah.
Know that a dog’s wet mouth is najis (unclean).
Know that the meaning of najasah is impure.
Describe how we are to keep our bodies clean.
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, taught us the importance of taking regular baths. He especially reminded us to bath before going to the Friday prayer, since it’s our weekly holiday.
Chapter 2: Ta’awun: Cooperation, It’s My Strength!
Demonstrate ways that one can cooperate with others.
Understand the meaning of cooperation and an example of how we can show cooperation.
Understand the hadeeth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him where he states, “A believer to a believer is like a strong building, each part supports the other.”
Know that when the Prophet (PBU), clasped his hands together, and put his fingers together, he said “A believer to a believer is like a strong building, each part supports the other.
Describe why cooperation is important.
Know that working together as Muslims makes us stronger. If we are united we can achieve great things. If we are divided, we will only do little things.
Chapter 3: Ta’awun: Cooperation In My Daily Life
Express ways one can cooperate at home, at school, at the masjid.
Chapter 4: Perseverance. It is my challenge. Work Hard & Don’t Give Up!
Discuss how the Prophet’s, peace and blessings be upon him, life shows perseverance.
Understand the meaning of perseverance and how the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, showed perseverance when teaching Islam even though many people did not accept him.
Explain that we should follow the example of the Prophet’s perseverance in times of difficulty.
Be able to provide an example of how the disbelievers tried to stop the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, from spreading Islam.
Chapter 5: Respect, It’s My Duty
Explore who we should respect and why.
Know the Tower of Respect and understand that Allah, The Prophet, and Parents
are the top 3 who we should respect.
Understand the hadeeth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, “The best of you in Islam, is those who have the best manners and learned the religion well.”
Explain how we can show respect to Allah.
Know that we can show respect to Allah by obeying him.
Chapter 6: Truthfulness, It’s My Style
Learn and understand the name of Allah, “Al-Haqq”
Know that Allah’s name The Truth means that he always tells us the truth and wants us to always speak the truth.
Understand that lying was the most hated behavior to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
Understand the Hadeeth on truthfulness and what it leads to and lying and what it leads to.
Know that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said truthfulness leads to goodness, and goodness leads to Jannah.
Know that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said that lying leads to wrong-doing, and wrong-doing leads to hellfire. A man would keep lying until Allah writes his name as a liar.
Chapter 7: Saying it the Prophet’s Way
Learn the meanings of the following vocabulary: Assalaamu Alaykum, Bismillahirrahmani-rraheem, Jazaakum-ullah Khayran, Wa Iyyakum, Inshaa-Allah, Maasha-Allah, Alhamdullilah, Yarhamuka Allahu
Know that Muslims should say Al-hamdullilah after sneezing.
Understand the hadeeth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, where he states that the most beloved to him and the closest to him on the Day Of Judgment are those who have the best manners.
