Shukr or Gratitude is very important principle in Islam. Quality of believer, quality of Allah, source of goodness. The word shukr is used in Quran many times; Means: Recognize and acknowledge the endless favors of Allah (swt)
Allah is the source of all favors and blessings.
Allah says in: Surat-ul-Mulk[67:23]: http://quran.com/67/23 Say, “It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful.”
Surat-ul-Mulk[67:15]: http://quran.com/67/15 It is He who made the earth tame for you – so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision – and to Him is the resurrection.
Every ni’mah or gift we have in this world is from Allah
Surat-un-Nahl [16:53]: http://quran.com/16/53 And whatever you have of favor – it is from Allah . Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.
Surat-Ibraheem [14:34]: http://quran.com/14/34 And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah , you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful.
