Final Exam Study Guide

We covered Unit D Chapters 4-6 and Unit E Chapters 1-6. All exam questions will be multiple choice and matching/ordering.
For the exam, please make sure your child knows:
I. The 3 Holiest Cities
a. Makkah
i. It is special to Muslims for many reasons!
1. Prophet Adam and his family lived there & were the first family on Earth
2. Later, Prophet Ibraheem & his son Isma’eel built Al-Ka’bah in Makkah
3. Muhammad (SAW) was born in Makkah about 1400 years ago and this is where the Quran was revealed!
ii. All Muslims pray to the direction of Al-Ka’bah. Al-Ka’bah was the first masjid on Earth!
iii. Al-Ka’bah is in Al-Masjid al-Haram (means “The Sacred Mosque”)
iv. There is zam-zam water in Makkah! This well has holy water that Allah made for Prophet Isma’eel and his mother thousands of years ago

b. Madinah, the city of Light
i. 2nd holiest city for Muslims
ii. It is special because the new Muslims moved there from Makkah because they were not being treated nicely in Makkah.
iii. Prophet Muhammad (saw)’s masjid is there; it is called Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (“The Prophet’s Mosque”).

c. Al Quds/Jerusalem
i. This is the 3rd holiest city for Muslims.
ii. Located in Palestine
iii. There is a special masjid here called Al-Masjid al-Aqsa

II. Muslim Manners
a. Kindness
i. Allah is kind, and Allah wants us to be kind to each other
ii. Be kind to your parents, relatives, friends, neighbors, and even to animals and plants!

b. Ithaar & Caring
i. Ithaar is when you give away something that you love to someone else who needs it

c. Obeying Our Parents
i. Listen to your parents
ii. This makes Allah (swt) happy!
iii. Our parents love us and know more than we do

d. Cleanliness
i. Taharah is cleanliness [Muslims should always be clean!!!]
ii. Najasah is dirtiness
iii. How to be clean?
1. Take showers/bath
2. Wear clean clothes
3. Wash hands after using the bathroom and keep it clean
4. Brush our teeth and comb our hair
5. Keep the house clean
6. Keep the masjid clean
7. Keep our schools clean
8. Keep the earth clean

e. Manners when we eat
i. Wash up before eating
ii. Make dua’a before eating [the dua’a on page E32 of textbook will be EXTRA CREDIT on the exam]
iii. Don’t play with the food or waste it
iv. Use our right hands when eating/drinking
v. Say JazakumAllah khayran to the host
vi. Make dua’a when you finish eating [the dua’a on page E35 of textbook will be EXTRA CREDIT on the exam]
f. Manners before we sleep
i. Recite Ayat Al-Kursi, Surat al-Falaq, and Surat An-Nas
ii. Sleep on the right side or our back
iii. Make dua’a before you go to sleep [the dua’a on page E42 of textbook will be EXTRA CREDIT on the exam]
iv. Make dua’a when you wake up [the dua’a on page E45 of textbook will be EXTRA CREDIT on the exam]
